With the rate of improvements in technology, it's plausible that we reach a point where computers are advanced enough to self improve and eventually even able to merge with people. This would be the singularity and considering the technology improvement rates, theoretically it would be developed by 2045. That would mean simulation of all human brain regions and even the ability to apply modifications to our brain through nano technology. This conclusion is made by Ray Kurzweil.
